SIA PIP survey results
Late last year we teamed up with the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA) to find out what people’s thoughts were with regard to Personal Independence Payments (PIP) and DLA. Over 200 people clicked through from our email to the survey providing invaluable feedback to help SIA in their understanding of this important change to disability benefits.
They have now come back to us with their findings:
“Thank you very much for your recent support of SIA’s survey on Personal Independence Payments. The survey has thrown up some interesting results, which will help us in our work going forward.
“For instance, 72% of those who had not yet been assessed for PIP were either ‘concerned’ or ‘very concerned’ at the prospect of moving from DLA. However, perhaps surprisingly, only 18% of responders who had made the move from DLA experienced a ‘negative’ or very negative’ effect on their financial situation. In fact, 40% of responders actually said that they were better off since moving from DLA.
“PIP is clearly a very complex area of disability campaigning, but this survey has given us a better understanding of people’s experiences of PIP and will aid our campaigning work in the future. Thanks again to everyone who took part.”
Finally, congratulations to Christopher Heyes from Bolton. Christopher is the winner of the £3000 Cyclone Mobility voucher in the draw of all completed survey repsondents.
